What is the Best Type of Omega 3 Fish Oil?

Let us answer a question being asked by many today - what is the best type of omega 3 fish oil? With all the brands and supplements today, the answer to this question is quite trivial in making the right choice. Here is a guide that can help you find the best fish oil supplement to take.
Not all omega 3 fish oil caps are the same!
This is an unfortunate truth. If you look at all those brands, you must realize that you are looking at products with different formulation, content, dosage and price. There are many factors to consider when making your choice but they all boil down to three important areas:
1. The purity of the oil used
2. The amount of DHA contained in every capsule (potency)
3. The freshness of the fish oil
The best fish oil caps are pure.
You may already know by now that fish can become contaminated by metals and hazardous chemicals such as mercury, lead, dioxins and PCB's.
The best are those that do not pose as a serious threat to your health from possible contamination. They are those whose fish are sourced from pristine waters, such as those from the Southern Ocean off the coast of Australia and New Zealand.
Check the label of the supplement before buying - make sure that the contamination levels are way below industry limits. Moreover, manufacturers have different processes for decontamination and purification processes.
Make sure to get fish oil caps that have undergone high technology purification processes such as molecular distillation.
The best type of omega 3 fish oil has high DHA content
Of all the fatty acids in omega 3, it is DHA that provides the most health benefits. Although EPA is also important, you would want your choice to contain as much DHA as possible for maximum potency.
The amount of DHA is usually revealed in the label. If you come across brands that do not tell you how much they contain, avoid buying them. Most have about 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA for every capsule on average.
But the best brand would contain as much as 280 mg of DHA.
The best omega 3 fish oil caps are fresh.
If you have taken it before, you may have noticed that some brands give you that "fishy" aftertaste such as when you burp after taking the capsules. This is a sign that you have rancid or oxidized brand that may contain free radicals which do your health more harm than good.
Make sure you get the one that is guaranteed fresh. Fresh fish oil manufacturers immediately process their fish after harvesting from the sea. Beware of companies who put fragrances to mask odor and rancidity.
The best type of it is unfortunately more expensive than others. But it is still better to buy a quality brand and get all the benefits than to waste money on a cheap brand which does not work at all.
